Step Two: Complete the application .
Then come for a short interview (optional). This year, as part of the Application Process, we have a provision in the SCC calendar to meet applicants personally. We want the opportunity to ask you any questions that may come up after reading your application as well as to get to know our applicants better. This is for Q&A not for applicant presentations.
We have set aside one evening for this activity, Tuesday, October 25, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Call the SCC office to make an appointment. Location: Springfield Cultural Council office, Indian Orchard Community Building, 117 Main Street, Indian Orchard.
The Springfield Cultural Council currently funds two distinct types of applications:
PROJECT GRANTS
Project Grants support projects. This might be a performance, an art show, an after-school music/dance/literary/cultural program, a lecture series, etc. The applicant might be an organization or artist. The project may be part or all of the organization’s programming for the year. We do not support projects for more than three consecutive years. The humanities and the interpretive sciences ARE ELIGIBLE to receive SCC grants.
ARTIST FELLOWSHIP GRANTS
We support individual artists with our studio program of Artists Fellowships. Designed to make it easier for artists to pursue their art, recipients have included writers, photographers, watercolorists, textile artists and videographers. Here are our Fellowship recipients from 1998-2007.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Not sure which one suits you? If you have a project in mind, does it significantly benefit the City? If the answer is yes, apply for a PROJECT GRANT. If you need support for your art, you can supply sample items with your application but don’t have a specific project in mind, then the ARTS FELLOWSHIP is your choice.
The Springfield Cultural Council does not offer PASS grants.
